100 Mile House
|
Originally known as Bridge Creek in the days
of the fur trade. Located 100 miles from Lillooet, little Bridge Creek
became known as 100 Mile House when it became a Stage Coach stop during
the Gold Rush.
Today 100 Mile House remains an important service centre for the Southern Cariboo. Gateway to the great outdoors, 100 Mile House professes to be the International Nordic Ski Capital with a 150 km groomed trail system (some night-lit).

70 Mile House |
Was once one of the first historic roadhouse
locations on the Cariboo Wagon Road. It now marks the turnoff point to the
Green Lake Recreational Area.
Fifteen Kilometre long GreenLake was situated on the Fur Brigade Trail between Fort Kamloops and Fort Alexandria. It is now a popular recreational area and home to a thriving wildlife population that includes Osprey, Eagles, Loons and a variety of ducks.

Lac La Hache |
Known as the longest town in the Cariboo.
19 Kilometre long Lac La Hache is popular for its beautiful lake shore and water
recreation; swimming, boating and jetskiing. The lake is surrounded by holiday
resorts, hotels and motels, guest ranches, as well as a large Provincial Campsite.
The nearby Mt. Timothy Ski Area provides downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as a snowmobiling area.

Interlakes |
Follow The Fishing Highway (Highway 24) for
some of the best Fly and Trophy Fishing in the Southern Cariboo.
This popular fishing area is home to Lac Des Roche, one of the most photographed lakes in British Columbia. There is a beautiful view of the lake, with all of its neat little islands and narrow channels from the Pioneer MacDonald Ranch rest area locatedon thes east end of the lake.

Lone Butte |
Located next to the Interlakes on hoghway
24, was once Cariboo Country's largest town and a busy centre for the ranchers
who settled in the area from the early 1900's to 1950's.
The town was named for the plug of an ancient volcano. Hikers can still access the 250 foot high plug or "butte", for a wonderful view of the area.

108 Mile Ranch |
Features a heritage site with a collection
of seven historical buildings, including the old 1908 Clydesdale barn, one of
the largest in Canada, the 105 Mile Roadhouse, the 108 Mile Telegraph Office,
the 1867 Hotel and Store.

Canim Lake |
Just north of 100 Mile House, the Canim Lake
Area provides some of the best Fly Fishing around and is home to Canim and Mahood
Falls as well as Deception Falls.
37 kilometre Canim Lake attracts summer visitors looking for water recreation. Great beaches, canoeing, boating, jet-skiing or horseback riding, hiking and biking on the areas endless trails. |
